What a week it’s been at QT Community Cats!

On Tuesday night, we had the absolute honour of being featured on Seven Sharp, sharing Izzy’s story with viewers across Aotearoa. To see our work – alongside the famous, Izzy – highlighted on national television was incredibly special. We’re still smiling.

Izzy’s journey is one of resilience, trust and second chances. Like so many of the cats who come through our doors, she didn’t have the easiest start. But what stood out most (and what always stands out to us) is this: despite everything, she still chose to trust. That quiet courage is something we see time and time again in the cats we rescue.

And that’s what QT Community Cats is all about.

More Than One Story

While Izzy was the face of Tuesday’s feature, she represents something much bigger.

Every month, we take in cats and kittens who are may have been abandoned, injured, or unwell. Some are tiny kittens born into unsafe environments. Others are older cats who have never known stability.

When they arrive with us, the process is the same:

  • Veterinary checks and urgent medical treatment if needed

  • Desexing, vaccinations and microchipping

  • Safe foster homes where they can decompress and begin to trust

  • Careful matching with loving, permanent homes

But beyond the practical steps, what we really provide is time, patience and kindness.

We rebuild confidence. We restore health. We create second chances - just like we did with Izzy's sister, Fat Sandy, who still resides with us at QT Community Cats.

Izzy’s story may have been on TV, but there are dozens more just like hers unfolding quietly behind the scenes every week.

A Huge Thank You

We are so grateful to the team at Seven Sharp for shining a light on the work we do. Exposure like this helps people understand the realities of running QT Community Cats – the hard days, the long nights, the vet bills – but also the incredible joy of watching a once-scared cat curl up in a forever home.

To our fosters, adopters, donors, volunteers and supporters: this feature belongs to you too. QT Community Cats exists because of this community.

And to Izzy – thank you for showing New Zealand exactly what strength, softness and second chances look like. 💛

If you haven’t watched the segment yet, you can view it on the link below. We hope it makes you as proud as it made us.

Together, we’re changing lives – one cat at a time. 🐾
